It's no secret that the US Military (Used as an example simply because it's the world's only current superpower) keeps a lot of mobility overseas right now. From what I can estimate, the current maximum vehicle capacity of our active land vehicles (Not counting in aircraft, naval units, etc.), could hold about 600% of our active army. That's a ridiculous number, but it goes to show that there's something these vehicles have that causes us to create so many.

I'm going to go ahead and suggest a few vehicles, just as an idea.

Before I suggest these, though, I would like to make a suggestion: That, should these ideas be considered worthwhile, ground vehicles and soldiers be viewed in different categories, just how air units and ground units are currently viewed separately.

1) The Humvee



Description: The Humvee is a fast assault, lightly armored vehicle. The purpose of it is to transport small amounts of units quickly while protecting them. I suggest this under the impression that their restricting land movement and mid cost should balance out with the armor capability and mid level capacity.

Statistics:
Cost: 180
Attack: 1
Defense: 1
Range: 8
Transport Capacity: 3
Specialization: When infantry or militia are inside of these (I don't suggest allowing small armies of tanks to be held in Humvees...), they gain +2 attack and +2 defense (In a similar manner to how infantry gain defense while protecting defensive lines), while also losing 4 defense against the M901 (To be discussed farther ahead). Serve as Afterwind's first armored transport, but require units in them to be effective

2) The MTV



Description: The Medium Tactical Vehicle was designed with the idea of quickly transporting units through combat areas without breaking down under gunfire. It carries a large capacity of units, however it does not offer much protection to any of them and comes at a somewhat high cost. Therefore, I offer that this be a high-capacity, low protection alternative to the Humvee. For the amount of troops transported, it is slightly cheaper than the Humvee, but it is also less capable of protecting units.

Statistics:
Cost: 340
Attack: 1
Defense: 1
Range: 8
Transport Capacity: 6
Specialization: I suggest that this be the unit that can finally move naval units from inland factories to the seas, as well as it being capable of transporting ground vehicles unlike the Humvee. The units in it also lose 4 defense against the M901 (To be discussed next). The naval thing was just a side thought I had, since I know people have been asking for it for quite some time and these things are indeed made for transporting large amounts of materials (A single one of these couldn't carry a destroyer, obviously, but if it was spread out over several of these as they are indeed small armies, it could be reassembled fairly quickly at a port)

3) M901 ITV



Description: The M901 is an anti-tank vehicle, slower than your average vehicle because it cannot fire while in any driving positions, but cannot drive while in any firing positions (It's possible but extremely difficult and tends to end in accidents). It fires two TOW launchers, something many Battlefield players may recognize:



As an annoying bane of all tanks.

Statistics:
Cost: 180
Attack: 6
Defense: 4 (+6 against vehicles)
Range: 5
Specialization: I propose this be something like the AA gun: Slightly mobile, and high defense against their specifically disliked units. This is also the counter to large amounts of Humvee units: as I suggested above, in a manner similar to how defensive lines can give defense, units in Humvees and MTVs (Rather than just the vehicles themselves) should be held as weak against these when either attacking or defending (M901 has boosted defense against them, they have a nerfed defense against the M901. Basically just taking both the Helicopter effectiveness against infantry and the AA gun effectiveness against air and tossing them together, since this is both an offensive and defensive unit in real life. Don't forget that this unit also works against other vehicles.

The only thing I'd change is make the defense/attack bonus for the first unit +3, not +2.
4 defense/attack makes better sense to me than 3 defense/attack because really, it's just a slightly stronger sea transport without the small buff I suggested.

I like the idea of the vehicles for transportation, but I think that there should only be 1 type; otherwise I think it would make the game too complicated, bu hey thats just me :p
