Favourite cheap country

Hi all. I was just wondering which is your favorite cheap (under 5000) country and why?

Taiwan in East Asia, Pakistan in south Asia, Austria and Ukraine in Europe (Greece ain't bad either, and Belgium is ok)

Latvia with Naval Commander on Europe+. See the sub-reddit (link in the Off-Topic forum)! Also works for 10k games by the way.

Yeah, it only works with a team.

Europe: Estonia - One of the cheapest countries to buy, letting you with much money to expand fast, also, not much players tend to start near you if it's no a 20 players game.

Europe+: Portugal - Cheap country, almost impossible to be first-turn blocked (only Ireland and Belgium have a chance in 5k games, but it's almost always a suicide move).

Eurasia/Eurasia & Africa: North Korea - Cheap country, letting you expand fast, with really good countries surrounding it and little problems with players joining near you (south korea is the main problem, but picking it almost always lead to a lost to both players).

Whole World: There are a lot of good options and it really depends on your strategy, but some of my favorites are: GW: Guatemala, Egypt and Pakistan. NC: Taiwan, Brunei and Qatar. SM: Tunisia, Ireland and Morocco.

PD: [Insert random country].

Europe: Austria or Hungary, both in great starting areas and if your good enough with your strategy and money, greece and belgium shouldn't be a problem to take out around turn 10.

Eurasia(afrcia): The kpreas as stated by Pin, pakistan, Syria or sri lanka for NC/SM

Africa: Lesotho ftw, eritrea, I think ghanas under 500, havnt used it in awhile.

Americas: Cuba, Guatamala or Ecuador (under 5000?

I really agree with Pinheiro about North Korea. Really cheap country with a lot of fantastic cities to conquer Early on. Must be the best country in the game.

I like kazakhstan(I mostly only use it for rushing a pakistan), thailand(easy expansion, can beat asia decently and is quick to get india), luxembourg(best country in AW), iceland(second best - MoS only) and russia: ural(what I usually use instead of kazakhstan if there is no pakistan)..though is it still viable to fight a pakistan I find kazakhstan is easier.

By turn 3-5 depending on the starting funds, you can have Scandinavia, the Baltic, Belarus and Ukraine, from which you can springboard onto Turkey, or Turkey can springboard unto you.

Asia: North Korea. First couple of turns, you can unify Korea, establish the Greater Korean Republic and conquer Vladivostok.

Africa: Tunisia to jump Italy and Spain.

Whole World: Urals, Siberia or Kazakhstan.

Or you could ditch crap North Korea and take glorious South Korea, and capture (on turn ONE) Japan, Shanghai and North Korea.

TBH, my choice of which Korea depends on the money available. Sorry for the Africa mistake; I never really play Africa only. Probably Madagascar, because you are relatively well-protected by the sea if you can do credible defence lines and you can reach S. Africa, the highest-income area in Africa, in only several turns.

I'd choose Urals/Sib/Kazakh because, from Urals/Sib you can quickly get to both China and Europe while being somewhat safe by the distance you are from either (2-3 turns to get anywhere, meaning neutrals can be grabbed yet you can prepare for any non-marine attacks) and Kazakh to establish Caspian hegemony and from there take on India/China and Europe.

Kenya and Nigeria.

That's nothing. When I was an ultra-noob, I built 11 defence layers as US Mountain. <.<

Yeah but were they all distinct? Because it's all nice and dandy to make a mountain of defence lines if they can be broken through in 2 turns because of interconnecting units. Mine have to be broken through all separately before the enemy arrives in Antananrivo.

Ireland. It can be hit or miss in Europe.

I mostly pick random countries and I don't have a standing opinion.

I like Ukraine and Serbia. They have a good location to reach out and control the general area.

Montenegro: beaten Serbia and Greece in same game, Serbia died on first turn because I got lucky bastard with 5K europe, which was fine for a country that is worth 150.
Benin: no one bothers to go down there to kill you

Eu.: Poland(quick Get Scandinavian states) Austria, Greece,Ukraine
Asia.: Thailand, Taiwan, Bangladesh
N.&S. America.: Cuba, DR. ,Argentina, Chile ,Colombia
Africa.: Nigeria ,South Africa ,Madagascar ,Egypt
