Little digression on this question, has connections with case:

During the years of French ruling in Croatian-Slovenian parts, Croatians served in many French military formations. Napoleon was one of many rulers that were fascinated by Croatian war skills, he said to General Marmont: "I never had more braver and better soldiers".
Napoleon also said this: "Croatians, there are best soldiers in the world. If I had only 100000 Croatians, I would conquer the entire world!".

Croatian troops, under Major General Slivar, in the Battle of Berezina (26-28 November 1812) saved Napoleon's life. Day after, Napoleon said: "Croatians! I am very very pleased with you!"

- During Serbian agression on Croatia, Croats faced 3rd strongest army in Europe (Yugoslavian army which all infartry, weapons, artillery and veichles went to Serbia). In beggining part, Croats had only hunting rifles and pistols (I can prove that with plenty of pictures).

- Maybe the most popular tourist city in Croatia today, Dubrovnik, was defended by 1500-2000 Croatian soldiers.
On the other side, there was an army of over 30 000 Serbians and Montenegrins who were attacking those Croats.
Croats defended it and Dubrovnik never fallen in Serbian hands.

- In Croatian city called Vukovar, 1200-2000 Croatian soldiers who defended that city were fighting over 35 000-80 000 Serbian soldiers over 3 months which is incredible. After Vukovar fallen in Serbian agressor hands, Serbs commited brutal genocides there.

Yea, agree, I know for all 3 versions, Croatian, Serbian and Albanian.

I investigated before a little and came to conclusion that army was mix of all 3 mentioned nationalities (even with some Hungarians, etc Balkan people), but the most of them were Croats.
As I said above, you have famous Battle of Berezina where Croats saved Napoleons life.
Idk, we may now try to prove to each other about whom Napoleon was talking, but we wont prove anything.
I just said in digression things which I have found while I was researching the thing about his famous sentence with 100 000 Croatians/Albanians/Serbians.

My own statment is they were mostly Croats, but I am not Napoleon, neither I lived in his time to know which theory is really the true one.

Please take a look on the names of leaders, generals and majors on Yugoslavian side --- All of them are Serbs.

Most of the army were Serbs, Montenegrins, Bosniaks who supported Yugoslavia and small number of Croats who were forced to recruit.

As Raskolnikov/Tito/Croat said, there are many leaders who boast Croats and Serbs (or Croatians and Serbians if you mean by territory).

There are documents which tell Napoleon commended Kara George, leader of Serbian Revolution 1804 because he beat Turks with unique, creative and original tactic and strategy (small trenches in the open ground) and even he (Napoleon said) that only Kara George is greater military leader then himself.

Other sources tell that Kaiser in WW1 commended Serbian Army for resisting Austrians and Germans proving higher ethos and capability.

Some say Saddam Hussein told if he had 1 million Serbs instead 20 million Iraqis he could conquer whole world.

Maybe some of them are true, maybe not, there are historical archives in every country so anyone can research, in any case these stories are interesting.

But one thing is definitely false information and thats Croatian military bravery because there are no proofs of Croatian battles in history. When Hungary occupied Croatia in 1102 Croats didnt resist and even supported Hungarian lords against their own people and only few knights resisted stationed on the coastal city of Biograd(Belgrade, probably Serbs from Croatia).
Then when Austria annexed Hungary(with croatia) and had Austrian-Ottoman Wars, Croats served as auxiliary units, skirmishers called 'Pandurs'(gendarmery/cops), that mean while Austrians and Hungarians used heavy weaponry and had battles to the last man with Turks, Croats only raided Turks flanks and rear for few minutes and then retreat, and they did that only when Austrians were in heavy combat with Turks, never when Turks were idle.
Then they fought for Austrian Empire in WW1, invading Serbia, Russia and Italy. It is good to mention Austrian-Croatian massacres in Bosnia during WW1 against Serbs, because they were sour they are losing in Serbia.
Then Croats as defeated in WW1 asked victorious Serbia to merge and create Yugoslavia, which Serbia accepted although Great Powers said dont do it, they will backstab sooner or later. Serbia even oppressed few officers and politicians who criticized union. 20 years later they desert Yugoslav Army and support Germans during invasion of Yugoslavia (April War), they even created fascist party and started genociding Serbs (again).
4 years later Croats defeated again but other half of croats were communists (partisans) with croatian leader Tito so they basically fought for 2 sides in WW2, so whoever lost - Croats would be victorious. They created Yugoslavia with croatian leaders and politicians. They deported Serbs from Kosovo and settled Albanians.
45 years later when they saw communism is collapsing, they swore oath to America (new aggressive power) and started the war so they can destroy yugoslavia and join EU & NATO. They start genociding and ethnically cleansing Serbs again from Croatia, Bosnian Turks do that in Bosnia and Albanians do it on Kosovo while America and Europe fund them all.
20 years from that war Croatia is publishing history and school books with alternative story telling how they Iranian rider tribe who arrived in Europe with Khazars.

They are culturally confused as would Russians say (Estonians are Russian neighbor who are culturally confused). It is very serious issue, but we knew it would happen, sooner or later, if not in Europe, then in some other continent, it was expected for some nation to try and change their history because of mistakes they made. My dib was on Germany because of WW1 and WW2, but they didnt, they admited mistakes, paid their debt and moved on, which is healthy and normal approach to things like this.
