You're being rather tough on low ranks....

If you don't want to play with them, then go for it. But making a whole thread as an attempt to ridicule some players due to their rank/skill level is not nice at all.

I could list strong low ranks as well as noob high ranks. Trust, looking at someone's rank may be a rough but not good indicator of someone's skill level.

ELO is a lot better (it have its flaws, but those are fewer as with ranks).

There's no such thing as a perfect system, but I believe ELO is the best that we have atm. Judging by rank is not good.

... skill can and should'be measured. At the very minimal we need to be able to rougly estimate someone's skill level based in some sort of system.

Why do you think elo is any better than rank? It can be farmed in the same way people farms sp... just look at those low ranks in the leaderboard. Judging by rank or elo is no good.

In order to have such system, we would need to regulate it much more. Anyway, we don't have it yet.

The ELO system is regulated harder, with a 512-elo-difference rule which stops nearly all the farmers from reaching the 1600 ELO mark... there is a harder competition, and mods regulates the season trophies as well(there has been some bans and ELO resets). At least, in my active times...

It seems that you have some pretty high standards of what is a "good" system... though we could at least agree that ELO is a better indicator than Rank.

Anyway just made the point in response to the rankism comment.

No, elo cannot be farmed in the same way sp can. You can make a game and invite your friend, then just auto produce units etc.. With elo you gain more the better player you beat, which discourages playing weaker players. In regards to the leaderboards, if you see a low rank with high elo, he's either a. an alt or b. one of the better players in the beginner lobby. If you see a high rank with good elo, he's probably just a decent player (4-5 exceptions).

most who farm elo can be easily spotted

If you want to gauge someone, look at the quality of their duel opponents and lookup the brackets of the tourneys they won. If both suck then its' probably a case of all flash no substance.

Ofc, I understand you, but still, look at our leaderboard. Do you really think those are all our best players? I guess even our best system is kinda broken right now. Also, the 1600 elo mark is already too noticeable! Anyone would struggle to reach that amount
