I am looking for realiable information about something that happens at the far east. strange zone to me which journalists i don't reconise and know whether i should trust or not. not to mention that after quick google search the only website that i found that actually tried to give it commentary is aj jazira - i do not disqualify them only because of their agenda and identity but because i have experience of years consuming news from them and well aware that they are biased and not there to serve their clients.

Then what is so bad about asking people whom i know i can depend on their intelligence and integrity?

Myanmar has a complicated history. The military has a strong hold on th government and has overthrown it on multiple occasions. Over the last couple years it has allowed democracy to return somewhat.

Myanmar has a variety of ethnic groups which has led to a variety of low-level civil wars (kinda like Colombia). Of of these ethnic groups are the Rohingyas, a primarily muslim community of a million people. Using British records (the former colonizer) the government of Myanmar has repeatedly continued a lie that the Rohyngyas came to the country as indentured servants (when they have actually arrived centuries before the British). This reasoning has allowed the government to deny them citizenship stripping them of access to education and healthcare. The Rohingyas are the worlds largest stateless community. For years there has been hostility towards them leading to violence on multiple occasions (the military usually raids and destroys villages and cities using everything at their disposal). The violence that you see currently is largely because of the emergence of a new, sophisticated group of Rohingya militants. Troops have begun hunting these insurgents killing over a 100 people in a matter of days.

For the most party, Rohingyas have remained relatively peaceful given their horrid treatment by the government and military. With that said, these grievances have encouraged the formation of small, home grown militant groups. One of these groups, the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) led the attacks on August 25th prompting the militaries recent action. ARSA was formed after the violence in 2012 and staged its first known attack last October on border-guard post in Rakhine (where the Rohingya live). There recent attack involved multiple individuals wielding explosives and machetes. They were synchronized attacks and larger than usual. The group is gaining strength and its leadership includes Rohingya emigres in Saudi Arabia. ARSA members live inside the community trying to drum up support. It has foreign connections which might make it capable of raising funds abroad. Many people believe ARSA launched the attacks knowing the military would attack indiscrimatly. The army has repeatedly destroyed entire villages and its recent push has displaced close to 90,000 people who have fled the fighting.

Both sides have committed atrocities but it is primarily the army that is causing much of the destruction (like I said, most Rohingyas have remained pacifist, although they are furious with the government). Aung San Su Kyi, Myanmars leader (who was only allowed to come to power after the military restored democracy last year) has vowed to end the country civil wars but has failed repeatedly in bringing up the plight go the Rohingyas. This is most likely because she fears to lose Buddhist votes (most people are Buddhist, the Rohingya are muslim) as well as fears that the army will overthrow the government again if it tries to stop them.
