Today we finally unveil the long-awaited new feature: Scenarios. We hope it will make the game more versatile, allow some creative player input and add a new twist to the gameplay. It will probably add a few bugs too, but we promise to fix them as soon as possible - your job is to seek them out and report
What are Scenarios?
Scenarios are, basically, game presets created by players. They can range from a simple custom map preset to a full-blown scenario with teams, players, pre-set unit placement and events. Things that can be altered include:
- Customized map preset (enable/disable countries)
- Teams, players and their colors
- Starting countries and units
- Turn events: text and additional units on the map
- Victory condition and some preset options
Creating/playing a scenario
There's a new button in the lobby that will take you to the list of scenarios. There you can start a game based on a scenario, or create a new one. There are several filters to help you out, plus you can sort the list by any column. Click on the stars in the right column to rate a scenario.
After clicking the 'play scenario' button, things proceed similarly to a regular game. If the scenario has pre-set sides, players will have to pick one in the country selection menu, either by clicking on the color box in the menu, or the 'select player' button in the country menu. Neutral countries will not be available in this case.
During the first week everyone can create and play scenarios. After that, a new pack will be added to the Premium features. Non-premium members will be limited to only creating one scenario and starting games based only on own scenarios (you will still be able to join any open scenario games, though).
